High efficiency power generation of approximately 50% is possible by gas turbine power generation using heat of about 950ºC. On the other hand, the reactor outlet coolant temperature (temperature of heat available) of a commercial power reactor, such as LWRs, is about 350ºC; therefore, high-efficiency power generation is not possible for the commercial power reactor. So far, conceptual design of the Gas Turbine High Temperature Reactor 300 (GTHTR300) with a reactor outlet coolant temperature of 950ºC and an electrical power of 300MW (thermal power of 600MW) has been completed. It was confirmed that the design targets were satisfied for all facilities.
