Demolition of the Biological Shield by Controlled Blasting
Controlled blasting is a method of dismantling concrete structures, such as a biological shield, by timed detonation of adequate amounts of explosives installed within holes drilled in the structure. Because blasting creates many cracks and faults in the structure, the structure is easily dismantled by manual or mechanical efforts. Though this method has some disadvantages such as noise, vibration, and the generation of dust, it has a marked capability to efficiently demolish massive reinforced concrete structures.
Controlled Blasting

Drilling holes into the biological shield

Installation of the explosive

Curing with an explosion-proof sheet and blasting mat

Secondary dismantling by means of a mechanical breaker

Packing of demolished concrete within a flexible container
