Hit by the earth-quake

Situation and response

Fortunately, the facilities including the research reactors and installed buildings of the Nuclear Science Research Institute (NSRI) were not affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, and thus, no leakage of radioactive material from the facilities to the outside occurred. However, a portion of the related facilities and buildings were severely damaged; however, fortunately, there were no fires, personnel injuries, or safety hazards. The safety of all facilities was ensured, while restoration and recovery plans were examined and the cost and inspection schedules were established and then implemented.
