STACY, under planning for modification

◎ Purpose of the facility

　　The objective of the intended research for the modified STACY is to establish an improved database on criticality safety. In particular, the database is expected to assist in the removal of fuel debris from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.

◎ R&D activities

　　Methodology on the safe treatment of fuel debris will be studied using the modified STACY. The modified STACY is being designed to conduct critical experiments under a wide -range of conditions and various core configurations for fuel debris of uncertain composition and state.
