Radiation Safety Management of Nuclear
Radiation Safety Management of Nuclear Facilities and other elements
We are working to ensure compliance with the relevant laws and regulations that apply to research reactors, nuclear-fuel facilities, radioisotope facilities, etc. We are also working to ensure radiation safety of such facilities and facility radiation workers and visitors.
◎ Relevant Main Laws and Regulations
The following are some laws and regulations formulated in this regard:
Regulation of Nuclear Source Material, Nuclear Fuel Material and Reactors Act
Act concerning Prevention from Radiation Hazards due to Radioisotopes, etc.
Industrial Safety and Health Act
Regulation concerning Prevention from Radiation Hazards due to Ionizing Radiation
◎ Radiation-measuring instruments
To ensure safety in the working environment, many types of radiation-measuring instruments are utilized to monitor the radioactive concentration and radiation equivalent rate in the controlled area.
Survey meters for radiation management in nuclear facilities
Survey meters for radiation management in nuclear facilities are used depending on the type of radiation and the level of dose rate. The ionization-chamber-type, Geiger-Mueller (GM)-type, and scintillation-type survey meters are applied for the evaluation of the ambient dose equivalent rate of Y-ray (X-ray). The Rem counter is applied to neutron measurements. For the evaluation of alpha and beta surface contaminations, the scintillation-type alpha survey meter and GM-type beta survey meter are applied, respectively.
