Super Compactor

Description of the super compactor

Metal wastes generated from research reactors are compacted using the super compactor in the Waste Volume Reduction Facility (WVRF).
Metal wastes packaged in 200 liter drums are compacted with 500 tons of force in the horizontal direction and 2,000 tons of force in the vertical direction in the high-pressure compaction unit. The waste volume is reduced to 1/3 or 1/4 of its original.
Three or four compacted drums are packaged in one 200 liter drum.
