To Promote understanding of nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear security
The mission of the ISCN is "to contribute to the well-being and prosperity of human society by improving the technical, institutional and capacity-building aspects of nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear security in order to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons and nuclear terrorism". In order to achieve this, it is essential that the general public understands the importance of nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear security, and we are actively working to achieve this.
International Forum on Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy, Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Nuclear Security
Every year, we hold the International Forum on Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Nuclear Security. This Forum invites government officials and experts on nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear security from various countries to focus on current issues and to deliver lectures and panel discussions to deepen understanding of the various challenges and response measures, as well as to publicize JAEA‘s efforts. In 2022, this time, with the theme of "Impact of Russian Invasion of Ukraine on Nuclear Non-proliferation, Nuclear Security, and Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy, and Future Challenges", deepened participants' understanding of what is happening to nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear security activities and how the IAEA and other international community, has been responding. The panelists discussed the impact and challenges of the peaceful use of nuclear energy and what should be done to build a safe and secure society. In addition, the expectations from the younger generation (Student session Discussion) was introduced by the representative of Student Session.(Number of participants: 249).

International Forum Student Session
Beginning in FY2020, the International Forum Student Session are held as a pre-event of the International Forum. Students who participated in “ISCN Summer School” program organize this session and participate as panelists.
In this session, they compile recommendations on specific themes for the international forum and student representatives present these recommendations at the following International Forum.
In FY2022, International Forum Student Session was held on the theme of “Based on war in Ukraine and the 10th Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference (NPTRC), what is peace? How should the world and Japan respond to nuclear-related threats?” (Held online, Participants: Approx. 50 people)

ISCN Newsletter
The information is regularly provided in the form of the ISCN Newsletter (in Japanese), which is distributed monthly by e-mail.
