Purpose of the Symposium
The Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) has been conducting research and development on nuclear forensics technologies based on Japan's commitment at the 2010 Nuclear Security Summit. JAEA has already established fundamental technologies and has been pursuing advancement of these technologies. This symposium aims to raise public awareness about nuclear forensics and to contribute to the future development of nuclear forensics technologies through discussion on each country's needs and efforts for the development of technologies required in the sequence of nuclear forensics activities from the first response to the analysis of particles derived from the dispersion of radioactive materials. Another aim is to help improve nuclear forensics capabilities of developing countries, especially in the Asian region, by discussing strategies for international and regional cooperation in the development of network laboratories, forensics libraries, analytical techniques, human capital, etc.
This symposium consists of the following three sessions.
- - Session 1: Keynote Session
- - Session 2, Panel 1: Needs for R&D on Nuclear Forensics Technologies and Future Direction
- - Session 3, Panel 2: Promotion of International and Regional Cooperation on Nuclear Forensics
