Neutron Spectra at Various Positions in Joyo

The following figures show calculated neutron spectra of a typical irradiation field in Joyo. The neutron flux and the ratio of fast neutrons are higher in the center of the core, while in the reflector region away from the core, the neutron flux on the low-energy side is higher than in the core region due to the neutron moderation effect. For irradiation tests that require higher low-energy neutron flux, such as nuclear transmutation research, a medium- to low-energy neutron flux field with a neutron moderator around the irradiation test assembly can be provided.
