      Empirical Research on policy-making and consensus-building for advanced nuclear reactor development

      (Summary)
      The aim of this research is to support nuclear policy formation towards the actual utilization of fast reactor and advanced reactor technology in the society, by using social-scientific approach, analyzing the factors, processes and mechanisms of consensus-building and policy-making concerning nuclear energy.
      In order to achieve the above, the applicant will be expected to expand our group’s research results concerning methods for communication with the stake-holders, utilize the policy study forum composed of some experts in the field of social science, condust trials of methods for dialogue with experts related to policy-maiking and for information dissemination to the public, and estimate the effectiveness of these methods.

      Commensurate salary with the applicant’s work experience, Social Insurance, Commutation allowance, Institute family residence and bachelor’s dormitory are available.

    6. Terms of employment

      Contract term: One year
      (The contract term can be extended up to five years upon annual review of research achievements.)
      Should you achieve outstanding results during your temporary employment, you could be offered a position as permanent Staff.

    7. Trial employment period

      6 months

      Weekend (Saturday and Sunday), National holidays, Year-end holidays, Paid holidays

    9. Qualification requirements

      (1) Having a Ph.D.degree. In principle, having work experience for more than one year as a full-time teacher, full-time researcher, or post-doctoral fellow.

      (2) It is requested that the applicant has abundant experience involved with a policy consensus building process in some field and comfortable ability of fieldwork on social science.

      (3) It is requested that the applicant has a performance applied for an open call for research of policy-making processes ,for example, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research <KAKENHI> .

      *: Any of the recommender should not be a JAEA employee but should be a person who knows well the content of your research.

      *: It is preferable to have a recommender who is your present superviser.

      *: The letter(s) should be provided by any of the following means:

      1. Provide it by your self with strictly sealed emvelop,

      2. Send the letter by mail from the recommender directly to the JAEA official (see Article 20.), or

      3. Send a pdf file, containing the text and hand-written signature, by e-mail from the recommender directly to the JAEA official (see Article).

    13. Document examination

      Applicants will be screened by the document examination. The result of the document examination will be notified to the applicants in writing. Note that application documents will not be returned.

    21. Points to note

      (1) Candidate who pass the recruitment examination is supposed to submit medical certification in English within 6 months (including height, weight, eyesight, urinalysis, chest X-ray).

      (2) Candidates without Japanese Nationality are required to have the certificate of eligibility by the date of adoption in order to obtain a work permit in Japan.

      Submitted personal information will be used for recruitment. Personal information of employee will be used for employment control. Other personal information will be scrapped 1 year later.
