Number of employees
One person
Recruitment theme
Theme: Field observations and data analysis related to the assessment of radioactive material discharge
Japan Atomic Energy Agency will conduct a program sponsored by Fukushima prefecture, which is entitled “Research on sediment discharge prediction and spatial dose rate prediction analysis using a radioactive material discharge assessment system”. In this program, we will conduct predictive analysis of sediment discharge and air dose through rivers with the aim of understanding the risk of exposure to residents due to radioactive cesium deposited in inundated areas due to river flooding. As part of this, we will continue to acquire the input parameters used in the Mathematical and Empirical approach to predict radiocesium discharge by tank model (MERCURY) that has been developed by JAEA up to now. In addition, to assess the exposure risk to residents during flooding, we will assess the concentration of radioactive cesium in the sediment flowing out from upstream. In this study, the special researchers will conduct field observations once a month to measure and analyze data such as the concentration of radioactive cesium in river water and flux. They will also clarify the trends and factors behind these data, along with data measured in the past. In addition, special topic researcher will also be involved in the analysis of water level flow curves and flow sediment curves, etc., related to the amount of radioactive cesium discharged.
(This work will be conducted as a part of the program on “Research on sediment discharge prediction and spatial dose rate prediction analysis using a radioactive material discharge assessment system”,which is supported by Fukushima prefecture.)
