Recruitment theme: Research and development on solid waste treatment
CLADS is implementing the "Project of Decommissioning, Contaminated Water and Treated Water Management (Research and Development of Processing and Disposal of Solid Waste)” conducted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan" related to the decommissioning of TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. We are conducting research and development on technology to treat secondary waste generated as a result of contaminated water treatment at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.
In this theme, applicant is expected to plan and manage technology development, including testing and analysis, to evaluate treatment methods for long-term storage of secondary waste and stability after treatment.

Salary commensurate with the applicant’s work experience, Social Insurance, Commutation allowance, Partial housing allowance. Dormitory is also available.
Terms of employment
From July 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025.
The contract term can be extended up to March 31, 2026 upon annual review of research achievements on the condition of obtaining the grant for “Project of Decommissioning, Contaminated Water and Treated Water Management.”
Should you achieve outstanding results during your temporary employment, you could be offered a position as permanent staff after passing certain examination.

Qualification requirements
(1) Ph.D.degree. In principle, having work experience for more than one year as a full-time teacher, a full-time researcher, or a post-doctoral fellow after acquisition of Ph.D.
(2) Enough knowledge and work experience on waste of TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, or on behaviors of oxide fuels and fission products at high temperature.
(3) Work experience on some commissioned R&D, having a willing to comply with rules related to management of commissioned R&D, to prepare nacessary documents and to coordinate with related organizations in smooth Japanese.

*: Any of the recommender should not be a JAEA employee but should be a person who knows well the content of your research.
*: It is preferable to have a recommender who is your current supervisor.

① Provide it by yourself with strictly sealed envelop,
② Send the letter by mail from the recommender directly to the JAEA official (see Article 20), or
③ Send a pdf file, containing the text and hand-written signature, by e-mail from the recommender directly to the JAEA official.

Travel Expenses

Points to note
(1) The successful applicant is supposed to submit medical in English certificate taken within 6 months (including height, weight, eyesight, urinalysis, chest X-ray).
(2) The successful applicant without Japanese Nationality is required to obtain a necessary visa status to work in Japan by the date of adoption.
