Research and Development on laser screening analysis for in-vessel or sampled nuclear fuel debris.
In decommissioning the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, simple and quick remote analysis of nuclear fuel debris is essential to promote efficient and safe retrieval of fuel debris. Therefore, Research and Development on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) for in-situ, remote analysis of in-vessel or retrieved (sampled) nuclear fuel debris will become indispensable.
In this theme, the development of equipment and construction of data analysis methods for the practical application of optical fiber-delivered microchip LIBS systems and microchip laser LIBS systems with application in workplaces in mind will be particularly responsible.

Salary commensurate with the applicant’s work experience, Social Insurance, Commutation allowance, and Partial housing allowance. The dormitory is also available.
Terms of employment
Contract term: One year
(The contract term can be extended up to five years upon annual evaluation of research achievements.)
Should you achieve outstanding results during your temporary employment, you could be offered a position as a tenured researcher.

Qualification requirements
(1) Having a Ph. D. degree. In principle, having work experience as a full-time teacher, a full-time researcher, or a post-doctoral fellow for more than one year.
(2) Having experience in research and development on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), its equipment, and spectral analysis for elemental analysis. Preferably knowing or using experience of optical fiber-delivered LIBS Technology.

Points to note
(1) The successful applicant is supposed to submit a medical in English certificate taken within 6 months (including height, weight, eyesight, urinalysis, and chest X-ray).
(2) The successful applicant without Japanese Nationality is required to obtain a necessary visa status to work in Japan by the date of adoption.
