Recruitment Field
‘Research and development of active neutron non-destructive assay (NDA) techniques to detect nuclear materials (NMs)’
Neutron Resonance Transmission Analysis (NRTA) is one of the promising NDA techniques in the field of non-proliferation and nuclear security, since it can identify and accurately quantify NMs regardless of sample matrix. However, a conventional NRTA system, which uses an accelerator to provide a neutron beam, is too large to be installed in an existing facility. Therefore, a downsized NRTA system is required in the application for the existing facilities.
The researcher of this recruitment participates in the research and development of such a compact NATA system. He/she will conduct simulations to optimize the system, develop neutron-gamma discrimination methods, and undertake to advance analytical methods of a time-of-flight spectrum.
(This research and development will be implemented under the grant of MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology – Japan))
