    2. About Postdoctoral Fellow in JAEA

Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) recruits young researchers with a wealth of originality in order to promote research and development for basic and advance research of nuclear energy and establishment of nuclear fuel cycle technology. We provide environment where young researchers can voluntarily and independently conduct their research.
Postdoctoral fellow will be able to make the most of the facilities in JAEA and will be able to receive necessary advice and support from researchers in the host group.

    3. Recruitment theme

Elucidation of hydrogen embrittlement mechanism of steels for introducing welded joints that contribute to the spread of hydrogen stations for fuel cell vehicles by pulsed neutron diffraction

The purpose of this theme is elucidation of the basic hydrogen embrittlement mechanism for welded joints of steels to the spread of hydrogen stations for fuel cell vehicles by pulsed neutron diffraction, which contributes the "realization of a green growth strategy accompanying carbon neutrality in 2050” determined by Japanese government. Specifically, by pulsed neutron diffraction using the engineering material diffractometer (BL19) installed by the JAEA at the J-PARC materials and life science experimental facility, structural evaluation will be performed from the crystal structure scale to the meso-scale structures, then 1) the evaluation of the residual stress at the welding region, 2) the evaluation of the mechanical properties and 3) the evaluation of the crack propagation.
In promoting these studies, the successful candidate will be performed one of the 1) the improvement of the spatial resolution of the residual stress mapping position resolution improvement by machine learning, 2) the development of the simultaneous measurement of acoustic emission (AE), infrared thermography (IRT), digital image correlation method (DIC), 3) multi-scale crystal plasticity modeling.
In addition, the successful candidate will select a theme from among the above specific research topics to ensure that there is no overlap.
