The MMF operates both the MMF and MMF-2 facilities, which are connected by a walk-through, as an integrated hot laboratory.
The PIEs for fuel claddings, wrapper tubes, structural materials and control materials that are irradiated in Joyo and other facilities are performed in the MMF.
The PIE contents include the material strength test, microstructure observation for the investigation of changes in material texture due to irradiation, and physical property tests.
