    2. Recruitment Field

Computational study on melting process of nuclear fuels and behavior of radio nuclides inside/outside the reactor buildings of Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant
      (Summary)
Decommission of Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant is one of most important issues in Japan. In order to realize safe decommissioning, detailed understanding about physical and chemical properties of melted nuclear fuels in the nuclear reactors and their melting process is needed. In addition, systematic studies of chemical states of radio nuclides outside the nuclear reactors are important to evaluate risks in working processes of the decommissioning and effects on the environment. Our division looks for a fixed term researcher to perform a part or all of numerical studies about the melting processes of nuclear fuels, physical/chemical properties of radio nuclides inside/outside the reactors using the following methods:
      i. The ab initio methods and/or the molecular dynamics methods at microscopic level,
ii. the phase field method at mesoscopic level,
iii. computational fluid dynamics at macroscopic level,
      iv. their combinations.
In addition, the researcher is encouraged to develop new numerical methods to bridge among the microscopic, mesoscopic, and macroscopic level simulations.
