Program Details
The Japan Atomic Energy Agency (hereinafter referred to as “the JAEA”) recruits young researchers with a high degree of creativity in order to promote fundamental and applied research in the field of nuclear energy, as well as research and development aimed at establishing nuclear fuel cycle technologies. The JAEA provides an environment in which young researchers can conduct research independently and proactively.
Researchers selected for this program will be able to make full use of the JAEA’s various facilities and receive necessary advice and support for carrying out their research from the researchers of the host research group.
Recruitment theme
“Integrated Analysis of Analytical Data Using Machine Learning”
At the Collaborative Laboratories for Advanced Decommissioning Science (CLADS), research and development related to the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station is being advanced. As part of these efforts, our group conducts characterization of fuel debris through experiments using uranium and synchrotron radiation analyses. The data obtained from these activities are extensive and diverse, and their interpretation presents a significant challenge.
The applicant will aim to estimate the properties and formation behavior of fuel debris by applying machine learning techniques to these analytical data. The applicant is also expected to actively incorporate the latest knowledge in the field of machine learning to enhance their technical capabilities and improve analytical accuracy. Furthermore, the applicant will be encouraged to apply machine learning approaches to data analyses conducted by collaborators both within and outside the CLADS, thereby contributing to the advancement of related research.
