Research and analysis on various issues related to nuclear non-proliferation, nuclear security and peaceful use of nuclear energy
(Summary)
Integrated Support Center for Nuclear Nonproliferation, Security and Human Resource Development (ISCN) conducts policy research based on technical expertise, considering domestic and international trends in nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear security, peaceful use of nuclear energy. ISCN also collects, organizes and analyses information on these trends and overseas nuclear human resource developments, providing and transmitting relevant findings to the appropriate authorities.
Currently, ISCN is primarily conducting policy research on the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear security and related countermeasures. Additionally, ISCN is examining nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear security policies for innovative reactors including small modular reactors (SMRs).
The fixed-term researcher sought in this recruitment will (1) conduct the policy research on nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear security, and peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and (2) collect, organize, and analyze information related to nuclear non-proliferation, nuclear security, peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and human resource development.

Contract term
Contract term: One year
(The contract term can be extended up to five years upon annual evaluation of research achievements.)
Should you achieve outstanding results during your temporary employment, you could be offered a position as permanent staff.
Terms of employment
(1) Salary: Commensurate salary with the applicant’s work experience.
(2) Allowance: Commutation and housing allowances are paid according to employees.
(3) Working Hours: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm.
(4) Intermission: 12:00 pm – 13:00 pm.
(5) Holiday: Weekend(Saturday and Sunday), national holidays, year-end holidays, paid holidays
(6) Social Insurance, etc.: Health insurance, welfare pension insurance, corporate pension fund, employment insurance, workers accident compensation insurance.
(7) Welfare: Family resident and dormitory are available
Qualification requirements
(1) Having a Ph.D. degree with at least one year of research experience as a full-time researcher such as a postdoctoral fellow after obtaining the Ph. D.
(2) Preferable is the applicant who has enough experience on research and analysis on nuclear non-proliferation, nuclear security and denuclearization either (1) on political perspective or (2) on technical perspective.

Recruitment examination

We will pay travel expenses for the recruitment examination according to the JAEA’s provision.

Points to note
(1) The successful applicant is supposed to submit medical in English certificate taken within 6 months (including height, weight, eyesight, urinalysis, chest X-ray).
(2) The successful applicant without Japanese Nationality is required to obtain a necessary visa status to work in Japan by the date of adoption.
