Theme: “Theoretical study of surrogate reaction”
Conduct a study entitled “Deexcitation process of excited compound nucleus to improve high-energy neutron-induced nuclear data” (PI: Katsuhisa Nishio), funded by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan. Specifically, the candidate will take a major role in theoretical study of surrogate reactions as a method to take neutron-induced cross sections using accelerated ion beams.

Contract
One fiscal year (from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025).
The contract period can be renewed but the total contract period is a maximum of 2 fiscal years (the maximum up to March 31, 2026) depending upon the annual review of your research progress. The extension of the contract period can be realized when the funding on the MEXT program “Deexcitation process of excited compound nucleus to improve high-energy neutron-induced nuclear data” is allocated.
Terms of employment
(1) Salary: Approximately JY400,000 per month (including social insurance fee and tax)
* Note that the salary may be changed.
(2) Allowance: Commutation and housing allowances are paid according to employees.
(3) Working Hours: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm. (Discretionary labor system is applicable.)
(4) Intermission: 12:00pm-1:00pm
(5) Holiday: Weekend (Saturday and Sunday), national holidays, year-end holidays, paid holidays.
(6) Social Insurance, etc.: Health insurance, welfare pension insurance, corporate pension fund, employment insurance, workers accident compensation insurance.
(7) Welfare: Family resident and dormitory are available.
(8) Trial employment period (6 months) is considered.
Qualification requirements
(1) Having a PhD degree at starting date of contract, but not exceed 8 years after taking PhD. Candidates are expected to have the desire and ability to promote the nuclear reaction theory.
(2) Applicants are expected to have knowledge and experience on developing a computer simulation code in the field of nuclear physics.

Travel Expenses
Travel expenses for the recruitment examination will be reimbursed by bank transfer in accordance with JAEA regulations. JAEA will only cover the actual travel expenses within Japan. Detailed information will be provided to the applicants.

Points to note
(1) The successful applicant will be required to submit a medical certificate in English taken within 6 months (including height, weight, eyesight, urinalysis, chest X-ray).
(2) The successful applicant, who is not a Japanese National, will be required to obtain the necessary visa status to work in Japan by the date of adoption.
