Theme: Research and development for better understanding the Quaternary geological environment change by means of diverse research field such as geomorphology, geology, geochronology, geochemistry or geophysics
This research theme aims to develop elemental techniques for precise estimation of short- and long-term geomorphic/geologic histories, including the processes, patterns and rates, based on approaches of Quaternary research, geomorphology, geology, geochronology, geochemistry and geophysics.
This research theme is carried out as part of projects funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). This recruitment assumes that METI entrusts the project to JAEA.

Qualification requirements
(1) Candidates must have a doctoral degree and must have research careers as a researcher more than 1 year.
(2) Having work experience on research related to any of Quaternary science, geomorphology, geology, geochronology, geochemistry and geophysics (especially research on the reconstruction of deep geological structure and environment based on numerical analysis using seismological, topographical, geological, and geochemical data, etc.).
Terms of employment
(1) Salary: Annual salary system based on the applicant’s work experience and JAEA’s administrative rules, Commutation allowance, Housing allowance
(2) Social Insurance, etc.: Health insurance, Welfare pension insurance, Corporate pension fund, Employment insurance, Industrial accident compensation insurance
(3) Housing: Dormitory for family and singles
(4) Working Hours: 8:30-17:00
(5) Break Time: 12:00-13:00
(6) Holidays: Weekend (Saturday and Sunday), National holidays, Year-end and new-year holidays, Annual paid leave, Special Leave, etc.
(7) Trial period: 6 months.

Contract term (tentative)
From November 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024
(The contract term can be extended up to March 31, 2028 upon annual review of research achievements and upon the funding)
Travel Expenses
We will cover your travel expenses in Japan for the recruitment examination in accordance with JAEA travel allowance regulations.
