      Theme: Large-Scale Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study on Adsorption Phenomena of Radionuclides on Clay Minerals

      We are looking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher (Special Topic Researcher) in computational science. The selected researcher will work on obtaining scientific knowledge on the migration behavior of radionuclides in the environment for the safe geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste by performing large-scale molecular dynamics simulations of radionuclide adsorption phenomena on clay minerals using a supercomputer. (This project is part of the "Technical Development Project for Geological Disposal of High-Level Radioactive Waste (Development of Technology for Safety Assessment and Verification of Safety Assessment for Geological Disposal (Development of Comprehensive Assessment Technology for Migration of Nuclides)" of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.)

    5. Qualification of recruitment

      The candidate for this position must have a doctoral degree and a research career as a post-doc researcher for more than one year. In addition, the candidate must have enough knowledge and experience in simulations in physics or chemistry.

    6. Terms of employment

      (1) Salary: Based on ability and performance.

      (2) Allowance: Commuting and housing allowances are paid in accordance with the Japan Atomic Energy Agency's employee salary regulations.

      (3) Working Hours: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm.

      (4) Intermission: 12:00pm-1:00pm.

      (5) Holiday, leaves: Weekends (Sat. and Sun.), Japanese national holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, annual leave, etc.

      (6) Social Insurance, etc.: Health insurance, welfare pension insurance, corporate pension fund, employment insurance, workers accident compensation insurance.

      (7) Welfare: Family resident and dormitory are available.

      (8) Trial period: 6 months.

    14. Result of Recruitment Examination

    15. Contract term(tentative)

      From October, 1st, 2023 to March 31st, 2024
      (The contract term can be extended up to March 31, 2027 upon annual review of research achievements and upon the funding from the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.)

    16. Travel Expenses

      We will cover your travel expenses in Japan for the recruitment examination in accordance with JAEA travel allowance regulations.

    18. Points to note

      (1) Selected candidate is required to submit a health certificate obtained in the last six month (including height, weight, eyesight, urine test results, chest X-ray results, etc.).

      (2) Status of residence in Japan is required for candidates without Japanese nationality by the date of recruitment in order to work in Japan Atomic Energy Agency.
