    1. Number of employees

      One person

    2. Recruitment theme

Theme: “Spectroscopic studies on sorption of nuclides under simulated groundwater conditions”

In highly carbonated groundwater, the partition coefficients of nuclides onto buffer materials, host rocks, or minerals are affected by carbonate complexes in the liquid phase and surface complexes at the solid-liquid interface. Evaluation of the chemical forms of nuclides in the liquid phase and at the solid-liquid interface is essential to examine the validity of the partition coefficients obtained in the simulation experiments. In this proposal, the relationship between the sorption of uranium and other nuclides on the buffer material or minerals constituting the host rock with and without carbonate will be measured and evaluated using spectroscopic techniques to measure the surface chemical state of the nuclides.
This project will be carried out as part of the project entrusted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.
