      Theme: “Analytical evaluation research on the irradiation behavior of cladding materials for light water reactors (LWRs)”

      The investigation on the development of cladding materials for LWRs is conducted in the Research Group for Radiation Materials Engineering, in the framework of national project budgeted by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan. In this project, the candidate is expected to research the latest information on advanced cladding materials development in the world, and conduct the microstructural observation and chemical analysis for neutron/ion-irradiated advanced cladding candidate materials in order to comprehend the material property change due to irradiation, leading to the analytical evaluation of the irradiation behavior of developing cladding materials in Japan.

    5. Qualification requirements

      Candidates must have a doctoral degree at the date of the recruitment. Applicants must be within 8 years of receiving their PhD. The ones must have willingness and capability to work on advanced cladding material development with enthusiasm, and must have knowledge and experience on both electron microscopes such as transmission electron microscope (TEM) and/or scanning electron microscope (SEM) and studies such as microstructural analysis and evaluation on metal material property. The candidates must be able to discuss in English on the technical and scientific subject.

    6. Terms of employment

      (1) Salary: Approximately JY400,000 per month(including social insurance fee and tax)

      (2) Allowance: Commutation and housing allowances are paid according to the JAEA regulation for employees.

      (3) Working Hours: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm.

      (4) Intermission: 12:00pm-1:00pm

      (5) Holiday, leaves: weekend (Saturday and Sunday), Japanese national holidays, new year holidays, annual leaves, etc.

      (6) Social Insurance, etc.: Health insurance, welfare pension insurance, corporate pension fund, employment insurance, workers accident compensation insurance.

      (7) Welfare: Family resident and dormitory are available.

      (8) Trial period: 6 months.

    14. Result of Recruitment Examination

    15. Contract term (tentative)

      From July 1st, 2022 to March 31st, 2023
      (The contract term can be extended up to March 31, 2025 upon annual review of research achievements and upon the funding)

    16. Travel Expenses

      JAEA will cover your travel expenses in Japan for the recruitment examination according to the JAEA regulations.

    18. Points to note

      (1) Selected candidate is required to submit a health certificate obtained in the last six month (including height, weight, eyesight, urine test results, chest X-ray results, etc.).

      (2) Status of residence in Japan is required for candidates without Japanese nationality by the date of recruitment in order to work in JAEA.
