Research and development of 3D additive manufacturing technology for nuclear fuel production
(Summary)
The Nuclear Plant Innovation Group in the Strategy and Management Department of the Oarai Nuclear Engineering Institute is developing practical 3D additive manufacturing technology that enables fuel production for various innovative reactors such as fast reactors and high-temperature gas cooled reactors.
In this research, we are studying the concept of a 3D printing process for fuel production of minor actinide-containing ceramics and oxides. The specific goals of this study include the evaluation to confirm the potential of the digitally-driven process to significantly reduce worker exposure through automation while increasing production quality through high-precision and single-step printing of the final fuel shape. Therefore, we are looking for people who are motivated to actively contribute to the development of this advanced fuel production technology that can flexibly respond to the fuel supply demands by the next-generation nuclear reactors.

Qualification requirements
(1) Having a Ph D. degree in the field related to the research theme.

-Basic salary is provided considering years of experience in accordance with the JAEA regulation.

-Pay rise: Once a year in October
-Bonus: Twice a year in June and December

Staff member of three-year career (age 25) with no dependents… JPY 4.7 million.
Staff member of eight-year career (age 30) with no dependents… JPY 6.5 million.
Staff member of 13-year career (age 35) with one dependent… JPY 7.7 million.

Shown above are model annual incomes for a staff member who is a college graduate and lives in Ibaraki Prefecture that works 15hours overtime per month and is provided service area allowance, housing allowance and bonuses.
*Researchers and engineers are provided allowance (JPY 19,000~33,800/month) according to the certified classes qualified by JAEA qualification system for engineering and research.
