      Multiphase CFD Simulations on GPU Supercomputers

      (Summary)
      Center for Computational Science and e-Systems promotes the development of nuclear CFD simulations towards digital transformation of research and development in nuclear engineering such as the safety evaluation of nuclear reactors and the design of future nuclear systems. Multiphase flow problems such as gas-liquid two phase flows and free surface flows are multi-scale problems involving fine gas-liquid interfaces and bubbles/droplets, and require high performance computing on GPU supercomputers, CFD schemes suitable for GPUs such as the lattice Boltzmann method, multi-scale CFD simulations based on adaptive mesh refinement, and high-fidelity simulation models for interface tracking, surface tension, and phase changes. In this theme, the applicant is expected to construct multiphase CFD codes on the GPU supercomputer SGI8600 at JAEA, and develop the above simulation technologies. The applicant is also expected to address thermal hydraulics in nuclear reactors using the developed codes.

    5. Qualification requirements

      (1) Having a Ph.D. degree in the field related to the research theme

      (2) Work experience on the development of extreme scale multiphase CFD simulations based on the adaptive mesh refinement method on GPU supercomputers.

    6. Terms of employment

      (1) Holidays

      9:00am-5:30pm

      (4) Salary (For example)
      -Starting salary (Dr’s Degree): 258,300yen/month (Result in April, 2020)
      -Allowance : Commutation allowance, Family allowance, House allowance , Research allowance, etc.
      -Pay raise : Once per year.(Performance for last year)
      -Bonus : Twice per year. (Performance for last year)
