Signs Arrangement in the Field of Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection with the French Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ASNR)

On March 24, Mr. Pierre-Marie ABADIE, Chairman of the French Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ASNR), and Mr. KOGUCHI Masanori, President of JAEA signed the “Framework Cooperation Arrangement in the field of Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection.”

During the meeting, the two leaders shared the recognition that, as nuclear energy is entering a new phase, it is important to address various societal challenges related to safety through nuclear science and technology in order to achieve sustainable development and gain public trust.
They also confirmed that, building on the long-standing cooperative relationship established since the time of their predecessor organizations, the two leaders will further strengthen their cooperation through staff exchanges and the sharing of technical expertise and knowledge.

On March 25, the ASNR delegation visited JAEA research institutes, touring its key facilities such as Static Experiment Critical Facility (STACY), research reactor JRR-3 at the Nuclear Science Research Institute and High Temperature Engineering Test Reactor (HTTR) at the Oarai Nuclear Engineering Research Institute. The delegation members were briefed on our R&D activities and fostered shared understanding of possible future collaboration with JAEA representatives.
