About the Global Energy International Prize

The Prize is awarded for outstanding scientific and engineering research achievement in the field of energy that helps justify innovative methods of efficient energy generation, create new and efficient sources of energy, or materially improve the performance of known energy sources.

A group of Russian scientists led by a Nobelist Dr. Zhores Alferov put forward the idea of an international energy prize. The Russian president Vladimir Putin expressed the foundation of the Global Energy International Prize at Russia-EU Summit in 2002. Regarding this expression, the Prize has been awarded annually to two or three persons since 2003. (See below).
