Tritium Removal Technology

In the dismantling of the "Fugen" specific heavy water system equipment, from the viewpoint of reducing exposure to tritium and improving the work efficiency, after recovering heavy water as much as possible from the whole system including the reactor body, we need to remove the (tritium-contained) heavy water remaining in the equipment and piping, etc. as much as possible in advance.
Therefore, we select a method based on air-drying from the viewpoints of workability and secondary waste suppression, and confirm the tritium removal performance of the heavy water system of the nuclear reactor facility by using a tritium removal device that reflects the knowledge such as basic test results for establishing the tritium removal method using the equipment and piping of the heavy water purification equipment (RI facility) of "Fugen," to advance the tritium removal work.
