    1. Number of employees

      One person

    2. Recruitment theme

Theme: Study on degradation behaviors of conventional and accident tolerant light water reactor fuels during accident conditions
Japan Atomic Energy Agency will conduct a program sponsored by Nuclear Regulation Authority, Japan (NRA), which is entitled “Entrusted research regarding disaster prevention measures for nuclear facilities (Research on degradation behaviors of conventional and accident tolerant light water reactor fuels during accident conditions)”. In this program, the engineering knowledge and the evaluation method related to retention of core coolability will be developed with particular focus on LWR fuel behaviors, including accident tolerant fuels, under design basis accident (DBA), post-DBA, and severe accident conditions. As a part of this program, development of experimental techniques and experiments with qualified methodologies are being performed on chemical reactions such as oxidation and mechanical loadings experienced by fuel cladding under high temperature transients with steam environment. In this study, as a member of the research group, the researcher is expected to lead the investigation of fuel behaviors and their impacts on core coolability through development, testing, and analysis of acquired data. In particular, the researcher is expected to promote understanding on physics of reactor core degradation and improve corresponding evaluation methods.
(This work will be conducted as a part of the program on “Entrusted research regarding disaster prevention measures for nuclear facilities (Research on degradation behaviors of conventional and accident tolerant light water reactor fuels during accident conditions)”, which is supported by NRA.)
