Compaction/Canning

Summary of Compaction/Canning

Compressible solid wastes are brought in transportation casks into a cell of the solid waste treatment system designated for this exclusive use. This cell has a thick ceiling and walls in order to prevent leaking of radiation.
The solid wastes are divided and cut when needed, and then compacted within the can. The compacted wastes are then placed into 40 liter metal cans and sealed.
