Metal Melting System

Description of the Metal Melting System

Metal wastes generated from research facilities (non-reactor) are melted using the Metal Melting System in the Waste Volume Reduction Facility (WVRF).
This system consists of an induction furnace, a centrifugal casting unit, and an off gas treatment unit. The furnace uses an induction heating system to efficiently heat the metal.

Ingots and receptacles

Molten metal is cast as ingots, and these ingots are packaged in 200 liter drums.
Or, the molten metal is cast as receptacles, and these receptacles are used to pour the molten slag produced from the non-metal melting system.
