Incineration

Description of Incineration

Solid waste (categories A-1 and A-2), which includes combustible solid waste, is sent to the waste treatment facility No. 1 by truck. The combustible solid wastes, such as cloth, chips, vinyl acetate, and rubber gloves, are processed by the incinerator. The capacity of incinerator is 50 kg/hr.

The off-gas from the incinerator is filtered and purified through an off-gas clearing system and released to the atmosphere through the stack with continuous monitoring of the radioactive concentration. The volume reduction of waste is about 1/150 by this processing.

Incineration Ash Packaging

Incineration Ash is packaged into 100 Liter stainless steel (SUS) drums, which are then placed in 200 Liter steel drums with a concrete lining. The incineration Ash Packages are stored temporarily in Storage Facilities, and are treated using the Non-metal Melting system in the Waste Volume Reduction Facility (WVRF).
