Development of nuclear CFD simulations using exascale CFD simulation technologies
Center for Computational Science and e-Systems promotes the development of multi-scale CFD codes based on exascale CFD simulation technologies for improving nuclear CFD simulations related to the safety evaluation of nuclear reactors, the analysis of complex phenomena in severe accidents, the thrmal-hydraulic analysis for decommissioning processes, and the design of future nuclear systems. In this theme, the applicant is expected to apply the above CFD codes to nuclear CFD simulations such as the thermal-hydraulic analysis and the debris cooling analysis in nuclear reactors, extend simulation models needed for each problem, and address verification and validation of developed simulation models. Based on these simulation models, highly accurate and high performance nuclear CFD simulations will be established on the GPU supercomputer SGI8600 at JAEA.

Salary commensurate with the applicant’s work experience, Social Insurance, Commutation allowance, Partial housing allowance. Dormitory is also available.
Terms of employment
Contract term: One year
(The contract term can be extended up to five years upon annual evaluation of research achievements.)
Should you achieve outstanding results during your temporary employment, you could be offered a position as a tenured reseacher.

Qualification requirements
(1) Ph.D.degree. In principle, having work experience for more than one year as a full-time teacher, a full-time researcher, or a post-doctoral fellow.
(2) Work experience on the development of nuclear CFD simulations and their verification and validation.

Points to note
(1) The successful applicant is supposed to submit medical in English certificate taken within 6 months (including height, weight, eyesight, urinalysis, chest X-ray).
(2) The successful applicant without Japanese Nationality is required to obtain a necessary visa status to work in Japan by the date of adoption.
