Recruitment theme
Research and development of multi-phase CFD simulations using exascale CFD simulation technologies
Center for Computational Science and e-Systems promotes the research and development of exascale CFD simulation technologies for improving nuclear CFD simulations related to the safety evaluation of nuclear reactors, the analysis of complex phenomena in severe accidents, and the design of future nuclear systems. Such nuclear CFD simulations are multi-scale problems involving solid-liquid-gas interfaces and require high performance computing techniques on accelerators and advanced multi-scale CFD simulation technologies. In this theme, the applicant is expected to construct a multi-phase CFD code, which captures solid-liquid-gas interfaces in complex systems, on a newly installed GPU supercomputer at JAEA, and develop memory saving implementations and optimized communication techniques for adaptive mesh refinement methods, which are essential for multi-scale CFD simulations. Based on these exascale CFD simulation techniques, highly accurate and high performance nuclear CFD simulations will be developed on the GPU supercomputer.
