Research for Dynamics in Functional Material by Utilizing Quasielastic and Inelastic Neutron Scattering
(Summary)
Functional Materials such as solid electrolytes, thermoelectric, caloric, ferroelectric and strongly correlated electron materials often express their functionality by dynamic disorder as a key factor. Neutron inelastic and quasielastic scattering techniques are important tools to improve such functionality by revealing the microscopic mechanisms of the functional expression from investigation of their dynamic properties in atomic level. The adopted researcher is expected to carry out leading researches in studying dynamic of functional materials to demonstrate usefulness of neutron beams, by utilizing neutron instruments installed at Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF) of J-PARC with developing a new method of measurement and appropriate sample environments. He/She is also expected to join user support for mainly BL02 DNA spectrometer and play a role to enhance scientific outcomes from MLF by promoting the new methods developed in his/her study to users.
