      Researcher 1 person

    2. Research field

Development of non-destructive nuclear detection and measurement techniques
      (Summary)
Integrated Support Center for Nuclear Nonproliferation and Nuclear Security (ISCN) is developing nuclear detection and measurement techniques. Among them, neutron resonance transmission analysis (NRTA) method is a technique potentially useful for analysis of a high-level radioactive nuclear material sample. The NRTA technique requires development of a neutron source for short pulsed thermal to epi-thermal neutron beams. A laser driven neutron source is considered to be a future technology for an NRTA instruments in a radioactive or nuclear material controlled area.
The researcher of this recruitment mainly participates in development of a laser driven neutron source for NRTA by (1) simulation studies of neutron generation and moderation (2) development of detector system, and also joins the other projects of technological development of ISCN.
(This research is implemented under the grant for "promotion of strengthening nuclear security or the like" of MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology – Japan))
