Survey and research for nuclear nonproliferation and security project
(Summary)
Japan atomic energy agency (JAEA) implements capacity building assistance and technological development in a nuclear nonproliferation and security project. This is a contribution to the world for the peaceful use of atomic energy by using JAEA’s knowledges and technologies. The researcher of this recruitment surveys the newest trends of capacity building assistance and technological development, analyzes the information, and joins the following JAEA activities.
The researcher will take a lecturer part in capability building training courses on nondestructive analyzing methods and the others.
He/she also participates in mainly development of delayed gamma-ray analysis (DGA), which is one of the research subjects of development of active neutron nondestructive assay techniques. DGA is an analyzing technique of fissile nuclide by measuring gamma rays emitted from decaying fission products, which are produced by fission reaction induced by externally introduced neutron. The tasks of the researcher are survey (on newest technologies of neutron source, gamma-ray detector, and so on), simulation study, and system development.

Commensurate salary with the applicant’s work experience, Social Insurance, Commutation allowance, Institute family residence and bachelor’s dormitory are available.
Terms of employment
Contract term: One year
(The total contract term between the employer and JAEA can be extended for five years, under the condition of approval of annual review of research achievements, and of the grant from MEXT.)
Should you achieve outstanding results during your temporary employment, you could be offered a position as permanent staff.

Qualification requirements
(1) Having Ph D. degree in the field related to the research theme and experiences as a post-doctoral position for more than one year
(2) Preferable is the applicant who has knowledge of nuclear safeguards and security, and experience on measurement of neutrons and gamma-rays and on Monte-Carlo simulations.

Points to note
(1) Candidate who pass the recruitment examination is supposed to submit medical certification in English within 6 months (including height, weight, eyesight, urinalysis, chest X-ray).
(2) Candidates without Japanese nationality are required to have the certificate of eligibility by the date of adoption in order to obtain a work permit in Japan.
