Number of employees
Researcher: 1 person
Recruitment theme
Theme: Study on the mechanical property of light-water-reactor fuel cladding under accident conditions
Japan Atomic Energy Agency will conduct a program sponsored by Nuclear Regulation Authority, Japan (NRA), which is entitled “Regulation improvement study on fuel fracture” until JFY-2023. In this program, the relationship between the failure limit of high-burnup fuel at reactivity-initiated accident (RIA) and the mechanical properties of fuel cladding will be estimated. As a part of this program, it is necessary to investigate the mechanical properties of high-burnup fuel cladding under biaxial-loading conditions which simulates RIA. In this study, as a member of the research group, the researcher is expected to lead various experiments and analyses on the mechanical property of fuel cladding by using methods of mechanical testing, microstructural observation and element analysis, etc. In addition, the researcher is expected to analyze the test results to evaluate the change in the mechanical properties of fuel cladding with increasing fuel burnup, and to develop and improve the model to express the change.
(This work will be conducted as a part of the program on “Regulation improvement study on fuel fracture”, which is supported by NRA.)
