      Research for Improving Accuracy of Nuclear Data for Accelerator-driven Nuclear Transmutation System
      Accelerator-driven nuclear transmutation system (ADS) is expected as a powerful means for reducing volume and harmfulness of high-level radioactive waste. Since proton beam intensity of the ADS is as high as several tens times of that of existing accelerators, accurate nuclear data are required for evaluation of radiation damage on target and structural materials and for evaluation of radioactive materials inventory for facility safety and making maintenance scenario. However, the existing experimental data are insufficient qualitatively and quantitatively for the evaluation. In this theme, nuclear data needed for the ADS development are to be measured by using J-PARC’s accelerators. The obtained experimental data are compared with calculated results with the PHITS code and evaluated nuclear data libraries to improve accuracy of the nuclear data with finally aiming at improvement in nuclear design of ADS.

      Commensurate salary with the applicant’s work experience, Social Insurance, Commutation allowance, Institute family residence and bachelor’s dormitory are available.

    6. Terms of employment

      Contract term: One year
      (The contract term can be extended up to 5 years upon annual review of research achievements.)
      Should you achieve outstanding results during your temporary employment, you could be offered a position as permanent staff.

    7. Trial employment period

      6 months

      Weekend (Saturday and Sunday), National holidays, Year-end holidays, Paid holidays

    9. Qualification requirements

      (1) Having a Ph.D. degree. In principle, work experience as a postdoctoral fellow (at least for one year) is required.

      * Including one from the current supervisor is better.
      * Letter(s) written by a JAEA employee will not be accepted.

      Examinees will be decided based on the review of application documents. The screening result will be notified by e-mail or by writing. Application documents will not be returned.

    21. Points to note

      (1) Candidate who pass the recruitment examination is supposed to submit medical certification in English within 6 months (including height, weight, eyesight, urinalysis, chest X-ray).

      (2) Candidates without Japanese nationality are required to have the certificate of eligibility by the date of adoption in order to obtain a work permit in Japan..
