    2. Recruitment theme

      Theme: Advanced research on long-term stability of geological environment
      This research theme aims to develop elemental techniques for precise estimation of short- and long-term geomorphic/geologic histories, including the processes, patterns and rates, based on approaches of Quaternary research, geomorphology, geology, geochronology, geodesy and seismology.
      This research theme is planned to be carried out as part of projects funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). This recruitment assumes that METI entrusts the project to JAEA.
      The subthemes concerning this recruitment are as below:
      (1) Detection of the active tectonics without clear tectonic landscape-signatures and assessment of their activities
      (2) Research and development for better understanding the processes, trends, and rates of landscape evolution caused by uplift/subsidence and erosion/deposition with the geological time scale (10-1000 kyrs)
      (3) Estimation of thermal-erosion history based on low-temperature thermochronology

    5. Qualification requirements

      (1) Having a Ph.D. degree

      (2) Having work experience on A) research related to any of Quaternary science, geomorphology, or geology or B) radiometric dating using mass spectrometry (especially mass spectrometry of noble gases such as He).

    6. Terms of employment

      (1) Salary: approximately JY420,000 per month (including social insurance fee and tax)

      (2) Allowance: Commutation and housing allowances are paid according to employees.

      (3) Working Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm. (There is possibility to work over time)

      (4) Intermission: 12:00pm - 13:00pm

      (5) Holiday: Weekend (Saturday and Sunday), national holidays, year-end holidays, paid holidays.

      (6) Social Insurance, etc.: Health insurance, welfare pension insurance, corporate pension fund, unemployment insurance, workers accident compensation insurance.

      (7) Welfare: Institute family resident and dormitory are available.

      (8) Trial period: 6 months.

    10. Document examination

      Examinees will be decided based on the review of application documents. The review result will be notified by a letter. Application documents will not be returned to the applicant.

      Examination of research achievement (Oral presentation using PowerPoint or PDF and Q&A)

    15. Contract term(tentative)

      From November 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019
      (The contract term can be extended up to March 31, 2019 upon annual review of research achievements and upon the funding)

    16. Travel Expenses

      We will cover your travel expenses in Japan for the recruitment examination in accordance with JAEA travel allowance regulations.

    18. Points to note

      (1) Applicants who pass the Recruitment examination are supposed to submit medical certification.

      (2) Candidates without Japanese Nationality are required to obtain a necessary visa status to work in Japan by the date of adoption.

    19. Treatment of personal information

      Submitted personal information will be used for recruitment only. Personal information of employee will be used for employment control. Other personal information will be scrapped 1 year after submission.
