    1. Number of employees

      Researcher 1 person

    2. Recruitment Field

      Research Theme:
Development of High-intensity Proton Accelerator for Accelerator-driven Nuclear Transmutation System

Accelerator-driven nuclear transmutation system (ADS) is desired as a powerful means for reducing volume and harmfulness of high-level radioactive waste. In developing technologies for practical application of ADS, development of a high-intensity proton accelerator, as well as a subcritical core for burning radioactive materials, is necessary. Required proton beam power is a few tens of MW that greatly exceeds the power realized up to now. Furthermore, since the accelerator serves as a driving source of the subcritical core, ADS accelerators are required to have high reliability and advanced power control technology. In this theme, the fellow will work on design study of key components of next-generation superconducting Linac that satisfy these requirements for future prototyping.
