Number of employees
Researcher: 1 person
Recruitment theme
Theme: Study on the oxidation behavior of light-water-reactor fuel cladding under accident conditions
Japan Atomic Energy Agency will conduct a program entitled “Advanced light-water-reactor fuel performance and safety research program” until JFY-2021 in order to obtain data and knowledge concerning the oxidation of light-water-reactor fuel cladding under accident conditions. As a part of this program, it is necessary to clarify the phenomena concerning the acceleration of oxidation occurred in certain conditions in high-temperature steam. In this study, as a member of the research group, the researcher is expected to lead various experiments and analyses on the oxidation behavior of the fuel cladding in high-temperature steam by using experimental apparatus for fuel cladding to carry out oxidation test, microstructure observation, element analysis, mechanical testing, etc. In addition, the researcher is expected to analyze the test results to clarify the condition where the acceleration of cladding oxidation occurs in high-temperature steam and to develop a model to express cladding oxidation behavior in consideration of the factor and mechanism which may cause the acceleration of oxidation.
(This work will be conducted as a part of the program on “Advanced light-water-reactor fuel performance and safety research program”, which is supported by Nuclear Regulation Authority, Japan (NRA).)
