International Workshop on Iron Related High-Tc Superconductors (IRiSes2009)

Jan. 14, 2009

The Japan Atomic Energy Agency (under the President T. Okazaki), Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (under the President H. Yoshikawa), RIKEN (under the President R. Noyori) and National Institute for Materials Science (under the President T. Kishi) are organizing the 1st International Workshop on Iron Related High-Tc Superconductors, IRiSes2009, in Ueno, Tokyo, Japan on Jan. 25 (Sun) 2009.

Since the discovery of new iron oxypnictide superconductor LaFeAsO1-xFx by Hosono group in Japan, iron related high-Tc superconductors have attracted much attention due to the possible novel physics and possible higher-Tc in related materials than ever. Recent high-intensity quantum beams at modern facilities enable simultaneous high-intensity and high-resolution scattering measurements, leading to the new era in solid state physics. In this workshop, new research results on iron related materials in this exciting field will be discussed to share what are important issues to reveal the high-Tc mechanism. It is very timely that this workshop is going to be held this time, when one of the world leading neutron science center with the neutron facilities both at J-PARC spallation source and at JRR-3 steady state source is being established at Tokai.
