The Signing Ceremony of the R&D cooperation agreement between Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University (IMR) and Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA)

Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University (IMR) and Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) signed the R&D cooperation agreement on Oct. 10, 2008.


1.Objective
The objective of the R&D cooperation agreement (hereby the agreement) is to share R&D facilities, Research outcomes and human resources to stimulate effective R&D activities such as irradiation and material research, and develop human resources.

2.Main contents of the agreement
The agreement has five coordination and cooperation activities.
(1)research collaboration
(2)shared use of research facilities and equipments
(3)exchange of human resources
(4)development of human resources
(5)exchange of research and technology information

3.Background and effect
(1)IMR and JAEA have been promoting the joint activities and research collaboration to Universities nationwide by utilizing the JAEA irradiation reactors, the Japan Material Testing Reactor (JMTR) and the fast breeder test reactor �JOYO� since 1969. Now, IMR and JAEA had reached an agreement to accelerate research collaboration in related to irradiation and material research and to further improve the development of human resources by applying regional advantages and utilizing our research facilities, research achievements, and human resources.
(2)By ratifying the agreement, we will respond as an organization and it will improve the Information sharing and its immediacy and transparency. As a result, systematic and continuous partnership will be secured.
