Based on the success of the first summer school held in Beijing at last summer where a large number of students from many Asian countries attended, the Second Asian Summer School (SASS) was held at the Kansai Photon Science Institute, JAEA, Kyoto from August 6 through 10, 2007. The goal of these schools is to give students a sense of the excitement in this emerging important field of laser plasma acceleration and radiation. A total of 91 participants, students, lecturers and staffs with expertise in various aspects of laser plasma acceleration and radiation attended. There was a collegial atmosphere where each lecture was followed by an extended question and answer session. One evening session was held where students where given problems to solve related to laser acceleration and involved a lively exchange of ideas among students and lecturers. In addition students were given tours of the laboratory with an excursion to nearby Nara. Prizes were given for the best three posters by presented by students who attended the school based on the votes from the lecturers and recognition was given the best lecture based on a vote by the students. The next summer school based on a vote by the students is planned for next year in Korea.
