The experimental fast reactor Joyo received a historic landmark award of American Nuclear Society(News)

November 14 (Local time 12:00); it was announced that the experimental fast reactor Joyo in the Oarai research and development center received the historic landmark award of the American Nuclear Society at the 2006 ANS winter meeting held at Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.A.
This award was in recognition of 29 years of stable and safe operation of Joyo that has provided a great deal of valuable irradiation and FBR plant operation data, together with expectation of continued contribution to the technical development of future FBR and fast reactor cycles.
The presentation ceremony of this historic landmark award will be held next June at the Oarai research and development center. Dr. Harold. F. McFarlane, president of ANS, will attend this ceremony to present the award.
