ISCN hosted IAEA Regional Workshop on Nuclear Security Recommendations on Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and Nuclear Facilities (INFCIRC225/rev.5) on October 29 and 30. The number of participants rose to 20, including Asian participants from 6 countries and Japanese participants, mainly from government related organization, regulators and operators.
The lectures introduced the objective and context of the IAEA Recommendation, and the difference between Rev. 4 and Rev. 5. The participants discussed how the Member States should implement the IAEA Recommendation to their countries’ regulations. Through discussions and group exercises, the participants enhanced their understanding on the document of IAEA Recommendations.
On the second day, guest panelists from US, Netherlands, UAE and Japan shared their country’s experience of implementing IAEA recommendations in the panel discussion session. Showing their high degree of interest in the subject, the participants asked many questions on particular cases, such as the most difficult point in actual introduction.
