- Number of Participants
A workshop on Nuclear Security Recommendations on Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and Nuclear Facilities (INFCIRC225/rev.5) was held on October 31 and November 1 in cooperation with Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and DOE/NNSA SNL. The number of participants rose to 40, including Asian participants from 14 countries and Japanese participants, mainly from governmental officials, regulators, operators and media. The Workshop was held back-to-back with the Regional Training Course on Physical Protection for Nuclear Materials and Facilities (Oct. 17-28, 2011).
During the two-day workshop, the participants learned the difference between Rev. 4 and Rev. 5 and discussed how they are going to implement Rev. 5 in their own countries.
Group exercises followed each lecture. Exercises gave an opportunity for the participants to read through the Rev. 5 document and helped them to understand the materials.
Participants were encouraged to discuss among themselves during the exercises, and forged strong network.
