Recruitment field
“Study of (radio-)nuclide sorption and reaction under the simulated condition of environmental groundwater.”
The partition coefficient of (radio-)nuclide onto solid matrices—the buffer, the rocks, or other minerals—in the presence of highly-dissolved carbonate has a particular influence from the dissolved carbonate species or the surface complexes at the liquid-solid interface. It is an indispensable approach to evaluate the chemical form of these nuclides both in solution and liquid-solid interface in order to validate the partition constants obtained through simulated experimental or modeling studies. In this project, a candidate utilizes spectroscopic methods to evaluate chemical species at a low concentration: the correlation between nuclides such as uranium and the buffer or minerals in the presence of carbonate. This subject will be conducted as a part of “The project for validating assessment methodology in geological disposal system” funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan.
